If you’ve been searching for Kakadu plum powder, you’ve probably seen the big claim everywhere: it’s one of the richest natural sources of vitamin C of any fruit on earth. We’re a small family business in Australia, and Kakadu plum — also called gubinge — is the fruit we work with every day. Here’s everything we know about it, facts first: what’s really in it, how it’s tested, and how to use it.

Kakadu plum powder capsules - 140 x 500mg, 60mg natural vitamin C per capsule. Australian grown Kakadu plum, vegan and gluten free.

How Much Vitamin C Is in Kakadu Plum Powder?

Ours is independently laboratory tested at 12.1% natural vitamin C — that’s 121mg of vitamin C in every gram of powder. Our product is independently laboratory-tested at 12.1% natural vitamin C — 240 times more vitamin C per gram than an orange.

One of our 500mg capsules of Kakadu plum powder delivers 60mg of natural vitamin C — more than an adult’s full daily need of 45mg, from one capsule.

What Vitamin C Does

Vitamin C contributes to normal immune system function, contributes to iron absorption from food, and contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. It’s also necessary for normal blood vessel structure and function, and it contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin. Every 500mg capsule of our Kakadu plum powder gives you 60mg of natural vitamin C towards all of that.

Independently Lab Tested — Not Just for Vitamin C

Our Kakadu plum is tested by an accredited Australian laboratory. That testing confirms the vitamin C content (12.1%, 121mg per gram), confirms it’s genuine Terminalia ferdinandiana, and checks it for safety: heavy metals, lead and arsenic all come back under the limit, and it’s clean on every microbial test as well. It’s whole-fruit powder, lab tested for what’s in it and for what isn’t.

What Is Kakadu Plum Powder?

Kakadu plum powder is the whole fruit of the Kakadu plum (Terminalia ferdinandiana), freeze-dried and finely ground — seed and all. There’s nothing else in it. No fillers, no additives, no synthetic vitamin C. Just the fruit, dried and powdered.

Freeze-drying matters here. Heat destroys vitamin C, and published studies comparing drying methods consistently find far better vitamin C retention from freeze-drying than from hot-air drying — in comparisons on other fruits, losses of around 9% freeze-dried against 27% to 53% hot-air dried. That’s why we freeze-dry ours, and why the powder stays as close as possible to what’s in the fresh fruit.

Ever wondered what’s in the powder besides vitamin C? Potassium, calcium, magnesium, vitamin E and folate, and the seed is 32% protein. See the full breakdown of Kakadu plum benefits

How to Use Kakadu Plum Powder

There are two easy ways to take it. The simplest is one capsule a day with water — that’s 500mg of pure powder, pre-measured, no mess. If you’d rather use it as loose powder, you can twist a capsule open and stir the powder into a smoothie, yoghurt, or a glass of water. It has a tart, fruity taste, and because it’s so concentrated, a little goes a long way.

Kakadu Plum Powder or Kakadu Plum Capsules — What’s the Difference?

Nothing, really, except the packaging. Our capsules contain exactly the same 100% pure, freeze-dried Kakadu plum powder as our loose powder — just measured into a simple vegetarian capsule so you don’t need to weigh anything out. Right now our Kakadu plum capsules are in stock (140 capsules, 500mg each, 70g of pure powder in total), while the loose 80g powder is temporarily out of stock while we prepare the next batch. If you want the powder today, the capsules are the way to get it — and you can always twist one open if you want it loose.

Where to Buy Kakadu Plum Powder in Australia

Ours is grown and made in Australia, sourced from an Australian grower, and independently lab-tested for both purity and vitamin C content. A 140-capsule bottle (70g of pure powder) is $64.95, which works out to 93c a gram, or as little as 46c a day at one capsule daily. On 15 August 2026, we compared our price per day against three other Australian sellers’ own product pages — ours worked out cheaper per day in every case. Frequently Asked Questions

What is Kakadu plum powder good for?

It’s a natural, food-based source of vitamin C. Ours is independently lab tested at 121mg of natural vitamin C per gram, and vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin. Our Kakadu plum products are food, not therapeutic goods, and aren’t intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition.

Is Kakadu plum powder tested for safety, not just vitamin C content?

Yes. An accredited Australian laboratory tests ours for heavy metals (lead and arsenic both come back under the safety limit) and for microbial cleanliness, as well as confirming the vitamin C level and that it’s genuine Kakadu plum.

Where can I buy Kakadu plum powder in Australia?

Right here — our Kakadu plum is Australian-grown and made into capsules by our family business, in stock and shipped Australia-wide. The loose 80g powder is out of stock at the moment; the capsules contain exactly the same powder and are available now.

How do you use Kakadu plum powder?

Take one capsule a day with water, or twist a capsule open and stir the powder into a smoothie, yoghurt or water if you’d rather use it loose. It’s concentrated, so a small amount goes a long way.

Is Kakadu plum powder the same as Kakadu plum capsules?

Yes. Our capsules are simply 500mg of the same 100% pure, freeze-dried Kakadu plum powder, measured into a vegetarian capsule for convenience — no fillers or additives either way.

Is Kakadu plum powder safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or unsure, please check with a health professional first. Our products are food, not therapeutic goods.

Kakadu plum has been part of our family’s story for a long time — you can read more about that in Gubinge: The Story of Kakadu Plum, or find out more about the fruit itself in What Is Kakadu Plum?. And if you’re ready to try it, our Kakadu Plum Powder Capsules are in stock now, Australian-grown, lab-tested, from 46c a day.
